Dashboards

A view people

A report that lands two weeks later changes nothing. A dashboard earns its place when it shows straight away where the money should move.

01

What a dashboard is

A dashboard brings advertising, web analytics and sales figures into one view. It updates on its own, so the situation can be checked mid campaign instead of afterwards. We build the view around the metrics that decisions are actually made on. Each user gets their own view: the whole picture for management, channel level for marketing, and their own part for sales.

02

A few lessons

Report at regional and location level whenever results vary by area. An average hides exactly the information that would tell you where to move money. The second lesson is about showing numbers side by side. The channel's own figure and the web analytics figure belong in the same view, with the reason for the gap written next to them. Once the gap has been explained, it stops eating time in every meeting. A view is also worth keeping narrow. A metric nobody uses for decisions takes space from one that is used.

03

How we work

People do the work: a strategist, a planner, a specialist and an analyst. We agree the metrics and their definitions before anything is built, and we go through the numbers together at an agreed rhythm. Where it helps, the Marketing Engine handles the part that repeats hundreds of times: pulling the data from the channels and keeping the view current. We give every client the most modern tools in the field for gathering insight, running the advertising and following the results.

Examples of what we do

  • Metric definitions and dashboard build
  • Connecting the data sources
  • Regional and location level views
  • Role based views and access rights
  • Channel and analytics figures side by side
  • Automatic updating
  • Going through the results together
